People CD is a privately funded startup with head office in Las Vegas, NV. Our objective is to improve access, usability, and convenience of online information and technology for the end user.We are building both software and web services applications.
John's Story
My grandfather lost his legs & vision to diabetes. Through him, I was exposed to the struggles many face with disabilities, and later met others like him when he moved from our house to a long-term care facility. This motivated me to consider how I could use my expertise to improve the lives of those with challenges. Providing online solutions is a way for me to help: enabling people to navigate the web, and connect with other lives, in a way that provides ease and enjoyment to those who are elderly, suffering from disease, or disabled.
When I started People CD, I was living in a little city where everybody knew each other. A friend, who lived two houses from mine, developed brain cancer in her early forties. Within three months, she was confined to a wheelchair and lost most of her mobility. A friend of my daughter had a snowmobile accident and was told that she would never be able to walk again. Another friend in my community was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, and today she suffers from paralysis over 90% of her body. Lastly, I have a close friend who has a unique disease. He is losing approximately 5% of his mobility each year.
Surrounded by these tragedies and challenges, and knowing I have skills to make a difference, my team and I began to consider how we could apply a similar technology as the software we designed for my grandson with Autism, and use it for those with mobility and vision problems.
Zac Browser’s success, which attracted 1 million users in the first year, gave us hope that if we could develop software for Autism, we could do the same for those with physical challenges. Pal Browser was created with that vision, bringing the best that technology has to offer - and the best entertainment (watching tv online, changing channels, accessing the news & weather, participating on social networking sites, and more!) – to those who need it, for free.
2010 promises to be an important year for the technology world, and for People CD ,where the hard work - and numerous hours of development - will finally come to life.
Currently, People CD Inc. is not generating any revenue. Our focus is the end user. We have plenty of opportunity that we need to explore in the future. But for now, all we - and our private investors - care about is providing the best pieces of technology that will impact the world positively.
